Our concert is most likely sold out, but please go to youtube and listen to the “Mendelssohn Octet” (for eight string players of course.)
Mendelssohn wrote the piece when he was 16 years old. At age 38 he died. It is a wonderful composition. Four separate movements.
The fast movements are joyous, humorous and/or exciting The slow one is very touching and beautiful. I haven’t listened to the youtube versions, but there are many ensembles and most are excellent. They are almost as good as…. ha!
Both concerts went very well. The Mendelssohn Octet is a wonderful composition.
