  1. For what it is worth: The other night I was walking past a cop standing at 42nd street Times Square. He looked intimidating and very intense. I walked past. On my way back as I passed him again I took a quick glance at him.I realized he wasn’t intimidating, He was just scared.
He was young (a rookie) and he looked very nervous and uncomfortable. I walked forward about fifteen feet and then I turned and went back to him and walked right up to his face, his eyes became wide and he starred into my eyes as I extended my hand and said “May I offer you my hand in appreciation for what you do every day on the job?” He said “yes” and extended his hand and he really squeezed my hand very hard. He was relieved at my comment and I realized that I was correct, He had been uncomfortable and nervous.
