As a kid in Portland Oregon I enjoyed many an outing at the amusement park named “Oaks Park”. I remember the House of Mirrors, Roller Coaster ride (my first ever)
Lewis & Clark adventure ride, Haunted House ride, Water log ride, and of course the huge roller skating rink that had a large organ with its many pipes suspended from the middle of the rink close to the ceiling. They had a large sign that would light up “Couples” only, “reverse”, and my favorite “All skate” – a voice would come over the p.a. system and announce what was the protocol on the floor at that moment. Those were the days of simple joys and life for a kid was simple. But then…..
