“Richard’s Bassoon” is inspired by Manhattan Symphonie’s founding Bassoonist member Richard V. He is a person who has taught us through example. He loves playing the bassoon so much he takes all of the repeat signs in the music. Even if everyone is exhausted and it is after midnight ! His son Keith says confidentially his father always carries his bassoon with him everywhere, even takes a shower with the bassoon. Don’t tell anyone.
He arrives early to the music location and is the last person to leave. For Richard, before the rehearsal, recording or concert it is always a tail-gate party getting psyched up for the musical event at hand.
There is little he would rather be doing than playing the bassoon. He is the dream person and player of any conductor or composer. He possesses a beautiful rich -“Richard tone” and has an impeccable flawless sense of rhythm and intonation. He is an all star player. He also loves to play Opera. He always brings his “A” game to the orchestra and by his mere presence inspires the ensemble to greater heights of musical expression.
