I sketched this sailing ship while at South Ferry Landing on either Mother’s Day or Memorial Day weekend May 2014.
The weather was a gorgeous sunny breezy day. I was very happy and thrilled to be there.
They were raising the sails. I am fascinated by the old sailing ships as I try to imagine what it would be like to live back a 150 years ago when there were many quiet majestic ships plying the waterways .
The wood and cotton canvas and other muted colors of those ships are beautiful and very different than the bright white plastics of today’s motor powered boats.
